Little Local - March 19

Little Local turns ONE this week, plus your guide to Spring Break around Victoria

We’re keeping things pretty routine this spring break with the big boys in camp, but I’m trying to sprinkle in a few extra fun moments. Earlier this week, I took the younger two to the museum to visit the woolly mammoth and wander through the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit (highly recommend). And yesterday, we decided ice cream was the perfect after-camp treat… which felt like a great idea until dinner time 🤪

Spring Break Picks

If you’re in need of a few more ideas to carry you through the rest of spring break, here are some easy local options to add to your list:

The IMAX at the RBCM has some great films on right now including Butterfly Journey, Shark Kingdom, Wild Rescue, and Tiger Tiger.

Free drop-in programs at the library during Spring Break (until March 28), from Lego building and STEM play to storytimes and creative workshops.

Creative Workshop Series at Westshore Town Centre. They have a fun lineup of arts-based activities running daily during Spring Break.

Spring Play Days at Indigo at Mayfair (11am – 1pm) with simple hands-on workshops like friendship bracelets. Free, but registration is required.

Beacon Hill Children’s Farm is open for the season! Watch the goat stampede at 10:10am and 4:10pm daily. Did you see the new baby goats on their Instagram?

WildPlay Victoria is a great outdoor adventure option for kids 5+, especially on those drier spring days.

Bin 4 Burger Lounge is offering $5 kids lunch meals over spring break (Mon–Fri, 11am–4pm).

📖 The Wild Robot on the Island, by Peter Brown. I love the original chapter book, and this beautifully illustrated version is perfect for younger readers who enjoy more pictures. A lovely, nature-filled story about friendship, belonging, and finding your place in the world.

🔍 Spring Scavenger Hunt Printable: Kids love a good scavenger hunt, and this one is a fun way to get everyone outside. Head to a local park or explore your neighbourhood while spotting signs of spring along the way.

Little Local is 100% free and independently owned and operated (it’s just me!). Your contributions go toward keeping Little Local going. I appreciate any and all support! –Sarah
